Bhagwanpur, next to Roorkee, is one of Uttarakhand's larger industrial belts.
Bhagwanpur is a development block of Haridwar district, in the Garhwal division. Haridwar is where the Ganga leaves the hills for the plains, and the Kumbh Mela is held here every twelve years. Roorkee, in the same district, is where Asia's oldest engineering college (now IIT Roorkee) opened in 1847.
